Recently, Helping the Home Front sponsored a picnic at the Norfolk Zoo for the Family Readiness Group (FRG) attached to the USS George H.W. Bush who was about to return home after 9 months at sea. Families came out to celebrate the pending homecoming. Helping the Home Front also sponsored the ship’s pier side homecoming a few days later. Shortly after, the Commanding Officer sent this note to Helping the Home Front.
“I sincerely appreciate the effort you and your team put into the FRG Zoo Celebration and the Homecoming event. You made a difference! The families of our Sailors thoroughly enjoyed the event, and our Sailors loved it. They were very excited as they stood on the flight deck watching and listening to the live music. There is no doubt that this was a homecoming for the history books! Keep making a difference!”
